INTERVIEW WITH SIMONE BRANDI
This month we meet Simone Brandi, who recently became one of the Fronte del Porto tattooer after completing his apprenticeship a few months ago.
How did you approach the world of tattooing, what has fascinated you?
I’ve always been passionate about visual arts. Tattooing is a desire that I have had since I was young, a passion that I have cultivated and appreciated more and more, a fascinating way to collect art. Today I have managed to transform it into a fundamental part of my life, combining passion with work.
Remember the first tattoo you made?
The first tattoo I made was a Japanese tao, so much time has passed, but the emotion and fear I felt are still vivid in my mind. Today I remember those first attempts as a beautiful experience, the first steps towards a future full of sacrifices and at the same time of infinite satisfaction.
What is your or your favorite styles and how has your way of tattooing evolved over the years?
I certainly prefer the Traditional, however my way of drawing leaves me more freedom of expression in the Neotraditional style. Obviously I appreciate any type of tattoo as long as it is well done. Over the years my evolution has been constant, and I hope it’s just the beginning of a long career.
What do you think about the world of tattoos today?
Today the world of tattoos, always in constant evolution, has reached a much broader and more varied target audience. This has raised the level of culture and knowledge of this world, bringing customers to ever more careful stylistic research and tattoo artists that rewards the highest technical levels.
At what point in your career did you join the Front of the Port family and what does it mean for you to work in this studio?
I have just finished the apprenticeship path which, after starting it in another studio, I did entirely here. Living daily in contact with many tattoo artists who are ready to help you and advise you has certainly help me, and continues to make me grow so much.
What are your plans for next year?
Certainly for next year my will is to improve and refine my technique in tattooing.
Do you have any other passion outside the world of tattoos?
At the moment tattoos fully fill my time, even if I don’t want to cultivate other passions …
